Yamaha confirm Jorge Lorenzo as rider for The Fiat Yamaha MotoGP Team For 2010.
Jorge Lorenzo and Yamaha Motor Company have signed a one year extension to the current rider agreement that will see Lorenzo, presently second in the 2009 MotoGP World Championship standings, as team mate of reigning MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi for another year.
Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, said "We are obviously delighted that Jorge has decided to stay at Yamaha for the next season and we hope that he will remain at Yamaha for many years to come. Jorge has shown his talent, his ability to learn and to compete at the highest level with many excellent performances in 2008 and 2009. We have no doubt that he has the ability and drive to become MotoGP World Champion and we are proud that he has decided to remain with Yamaha, despite having received some very serious approaches from some of our competitors. This timely decision now allows us to focus on the present championship, where our riders are currently first and second, and to make definitive plans for our 2010 MotoGP program."

Everts wins the Red Bull Motorclash on the Wall of Geraardsbergen |
The challenge of this duel of the titans was simple: who would climb the Geraardsbergen Wall in the shortest time, a Citroën C4 WRC car or a Red Bull KTM 450 cc?
And the protagonists of the event: five times rally champion Sébastien Loeb and ten time world motor cross champion Stefan Everts. The result was a particularly exciting and unusual race between two heroes in their disciplines. Stefan Everts reached the top of the Wall first against all expectations. Sébastien Loeb, who was one tenth of a second behind, had to acknowledge the superiority of our compatriot.
What started as an innocent competition between two top athletes turned into an exceptional duel. It was Stefan Everts who challenged Red Bull athlete Sébastien Loeb a few weeks ago, but he could never have imagined that the cobblestones of the legendary Wall of Geraardsbergen would be so slippery smooth today. However this did not put him off and he succeeded in reaching the top first with a very tiny difference separating him from his opponent. His timing was 49:07 seconds compared to 49:17 for Loeb. The Limburger was as pleased as Punch with this unexpected victory: "I surprised myself at my win. It's probably the only time this year that Sébastien will be beaten by anyone!"

Ben Townley, injury status. |
American Honda announced today that Honda Red Bull Racing rider Ben Townley¹s return to competition will be delayed due to rehabilitation complications. Honda Red Bull Racing team manager Erik Kehoe stated, “Ben has been training on his CRF450R for about a month and continues to have difficulty with his shoulder. He is working with Red Bull’s elite athlete training staff and will be meeting with several shoulder specialists to identify the cause of the problem and choose the best course of action to expedite his recovery. Our goal is to make sure he is 100 percent before he returns to racing.”
It may be several weeks before Townley can establish a course of action for treatment. American Honda will provide additional details when they are available.
